Industry Shipping Confusion

Several callers (and now new customers) have asked us to help clarify industry delivery times and terms.  Understanding total delivery times is essential to ensure you receive your graduation caps and gowns in time.

We cut through all the confusion to keep it simple, fast, and at a low cost.  This is a MUST READ when planning your purchase.

As the end of the school year approaches, schools and students start planning for their graduation ceremonies.  Part of the planning process is to ensure you purchase your graduation caps and gowns with plenty of time to arrive before the ceremony.

“Plenty of time” means not only receiving graduation caps and gowns before the graduation ceremony but with enough time to try them on to ensure a proper fit.  For this reason we always suggest ordering your graduation products as early as possible.

Budget Graduation has started receiving several calls from customers of other graduation companies who placed orders in what they thought was plenty of time.  Several weeks later they followed up to discover their orders had not shipped or in some cases even processed.  This is why understanding graduation supplier processing and transit times is important.

Transit Time is the time it takes from when your order is picked up by a carrier (i.e. UPS, Fed Ex, USPS, etc.) until it arrives at its destination.  Normal transit times for a regular or ground service can take 5 to 10 business days to arrive.  Expedited transit times are offered if the products are in stock.  Budget offers expedited shipping of 5 business days down to a next day service.  Transit time does not include the time it takes for the company to prepare the shipment and give it to the carrier.  It only includes the time the carrier needs to deliver it once they have it.  Budget can offer shorter transit times since we stock products.

Processing Time is the time it takes from when you place your order to the time it is given to the carrier for delivery.  Processing times between companies vary greatly.  This is what has caused confusion with the callers mentioned above.  Some companies have a standard processing time up of two weeks.  This means if you placed an order today it is not given to the carrier for two weeks.  It could then take another two weeks of transit time before you receive it. Taking four weeks total to receive your order.

Other companies do offer rush processing times, but at a cost.  Some will add from $2 to $12 per item to ship sooner than the two weeks.  An example would be if you ordered 10 preschool graduation tassels from them.  You could be charged $12 per graduation tassel, or $120 extra, for the same processing time Budget Graduation offers for free.

At Budget Graduation orders are normally processed and shipped either the same day or within 24 hours of receiving your order at no extra cost.  This gives Budget Graduation one of the quickest and lowest cost overall delivery times in the industry.
